About
Lunrui Fan is a PhD researcher in Chemical Engineering applying AI-driven methods to fault detection and predictive maintenance in process plants. Her research focuses on reliable algorithm development under realistic conditions: rare faults, changing operating modes and coupled faults. The aim is to develop practical monitoring approaches that engineers and operators can trust and deploy.
Before starting her PhD, Lunrui completed a bachelor’s degree in catalysis science and a master’s degree in AI-driven fault diagnosis. This combination of chemical understanding and AI methods underpins her current work on connecting monitoring algorithms with real maintenance decisions in the process industry.
